baking soda

dried currents
(or dried fruit of your choice)

buttermilk

egg

teaspoon
caraway seeds
Instructions
Heat your oven to 350° F
Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and caraway.
Use a pastry blender to mix in the butter until it looks like coarse crumbs.
Add currants to the bowl and stir.
Put in the beaten egg.
Pour in buttermilk and use a fork to combine everything into a soft dough. If it's too dry, add a bit more buttermilk.
Sprinkle some flour on your work surface and place the dough on it.
Shape the dough into a ball and gently knead it 5 or 6 times.
Roll the dough until it's ¼ inch thick.
Use a knife to cut the dough into squares and triangles.
Place the cookies on the baking sheets you prepared earlier.
Bake in the oven for 12 to 14 minutes, or until they are slightly browned.
