Tips and Tricks
Choosing Your Dried Fruit
For a unique twist, try using a mix of dried fruits like cranberries, raisins, or chopped apricots. This can add different flavors and textures to your cookies.
Perfect Dough Consistency
If your dough is too dry, add buttermilk a teaspoon at a time until it reaches the right consistency. The dough should be soft and slightly sticky but manageable.
Easy Rolling
To prevent the dough from sticking to your rolling pin, lightly dust both the pin and the surface with flour. This makes rolling out the dough smoother and easier.
Even Baking
For cookies that bake evenly, try to make sure they’re all the same thickness. You can use a ruler to check the thickness of your dough before cutting.
Storing Your Cookies
Once baked and cooled, store your cookies in an airtight container. They’ll stay fresh for up to a week. If you want to keep them longer, you can freeze them in a sealed bag or container.
Adding Extra Flavor
If you enjoy a bit of zest, add a teaspoon of lemon or orange zest to the dough. This can brighten up the flavor and add a fresh note to your cookies.
