Homemade Whole Grain Waffles
Ingredients
- 2 eggs beaten
- ¼ cup canola oil
- 1¾ cup skim milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¼ cup unsweetened applesauce
- 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour
- ½ cup flax seed meal
- ¼ cup wheat germ
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat waffle iron
- In a large mixing bowl, add eggs. Whisk in canola oil, milk, vanilla, and applesauce.
- Using a hand mixer, beat in whole wheat flour, wheat germ, flax seed meal, all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Beat until smooth.
- Prepare waffle iron by spraying with non-stick cooking spray.
- Carefully pour batter on prepared waffle iron and cook until waffle is golden and crispy.
- Repeat for the rest of the batter.
