Tips and Tricks
Yeast Activation
To ensure your yeast is fully activated, dissolve it in a small amount of warm water (about 110°F) with a pinch of sugar before adding it to the bread machine. This step can help kickstart the fermentation process, leading to a better rise.
Flour Measurement
When measuring flour, use the spoon and level method to avoid packing the flour into the measuring cup. This ensures you don’t add too much flour, which can make the dough dense and tough.
Dough Rising
For optimal dough rising, place the bowl in a warm, draft-free area. If your kitchen is cold, you can place the bowl in an oven with just the light on or in a microwave with a cup of hot water beside it.
Rolling the Dough
To roll out the dough evenly, start from the center and work your way outwards. If the dough keeps shrinking back, let it rest for a few minutes to relax the gluten before continuing to roll.
Pre-baking for Crispy Crust
For an extra crispy crust, bake the dough without toppings for 5-7 minutes before adding your desired toppings. This pre-baking step helps to set the crust, preventing it from becoming soggy.
