Easy Skillet Apple Pie Recipe
Easy Skillet Apple Pie Recipe, a cozy and classic apple pie recipe. It’s a fantastic treat that’s surprisingly straightforward to make.
You’ll need some basic ingredients: butter, brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, and, of course, sliced apples. Don’t forget the refrigerated pie crusts – these are real time-savers and work great.
Apple pie is a versatile dessert, perfect for family dinners, holiday feasts like Thanksgiving or Christmas, or just a sweet treat on a regular day.
It pairs wonderfully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.
A few tips to keep in mind: getting the crust golden brown is key. It adds that satisfying crunch and rich flavor. Also, balancing the sweetness with the right amount of cinnamon gives this pie its signature taste.
Tips and Tricks
Preparing the Apples
For even cooking and a more consistent texture, make sure to slice the apples thinly and uniformly. This ensures that all apple slices soften at the same rate during baking.
Pie Crust Placement
When placing the pie crusts, ensure they are centered and slightly pressed against the edges of the skillet. This helps prevent any filling from leaking out and ensures an even bake.
Melting Butter
To avoid burning the butter, keep a close eye on the skillet while it’s in the oven. Once the butter is fully melted, remove it immediately to prevent it from browning too much, which can alter the flavor.
Sugar Distribution
Distribute the sugar evenly over the apples to ensure a balanced sweetness throughout the pie. This also helps the apples caramelize beautifully, enhancing their natural flavors.
Creating Steam Vents
When making slits in the top crust, use a sharp knife and make clean cuts. This allows steam to escape, preventing the crust from becoming soggy and ensuring it bakes to a golden crisp.
Checking Doneness
Start checking the pie at the 40-minute mark. The crust should be golden brown, and the apples should be tender when pierced with a fork. This prevents overcooking and ensures a perfect pie texture.
Serving
For the best experience, let the pie rest for about 10 minutes after baking before serving. This allows the filling to set slightly, making it easier to cut and serve without falling apart.
