Tips and Tricks

Preparing the Ribs

Before you start, ensure your ribs are properly trimmed. Removing excess fat and the silver skin membrane on the bone side can help the seasoning penetrate better and make the ribs more tender.

Seasoning Tips

For an extra flavor boost, you can use a dry rub instead of just salt and pepper. Try mixing paprika, brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, and a bit of cayenne for a delicious rub. Apply it generously to both sides of the ribs.

Slow Cooking Perfection

If you have time, let the seasoned ribs sit in the refrigerator for at least an hour or even overnight. This will help the flavors penetrate deeper into the meat.

Enhancing the Flavor

Adding a splash of apple cider vinegar or a bit of beer to the water in the slow cooker can infuse additional flavor into the ribs as they cook.

Handling the Ribs

When transferring the ribs from the slow cooker to the baking sheet, be gentle. The ribs will be very tender and may fall apart easily. Using tongs and a spatula together can help support the ribs during the move.

Finishing Touches

For a more complex flavor, you can brush the ribs with a combination of barbecue sauce and honey before baking. This adds a touch of sweetness and helps achieve a beautiful caramelized glaze.

Baking the Ribs

Keep a close eye on the ribs while they are in the oven. Barbecue sauce can go from perfect to burnt quickly. You want the sauce to be sticky and caramelized, not charred.
