- 1½ cup heavy cream
- 2 cloves garlic chopped
- 1 sprig fresh thyme
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- 2 lbs russet potatoes peeled and cut into 1/8-inch thick slices
- salt as needed
- black pepper freshly ground, to taste
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375° F.
- Place a small saucepan over medium heat.
- In a saucepan, heat up the cream with a sprig of thyme, chopped garlic and nutmeg.
- In the saucepan, add cream, garlic, thyme, and nutmeg. Stir occasionally until heated through.
- In the meantime, in a casserole dish, Arrange potato slices in rows that overlap slightly over the bottom of the casserole dish, making one layer.
- Season the potatoes with salt and pepper.
- Pour part of the heated cream mixture over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle some of the parmesan cheese over the layer.
- Repeat the steps for 2 additional layers.
- In preheated oven, bake uncovered for 45 minutes.
- Sprinkle some Parmesan cheese on top.
- Turn oven to Broil. Broil for approximately 5 minutes, or until the cheese has browned.
